Lara Jukes

Lara has 30 years of experience in building and leading highly successful teams across fundraising, philanthropy and not-for-profit marketing in prestigious UK institutions. As Director of Development at The Institute of Cancer Research, London (ICR) she led an organisational rebrand and repositioned the ICR’s fundraising strategy, leading to a threefold increase in annual income and completion of a £75m capital campaign. Prior to the ICR, Lara established a Development Office at the British Library from start-up, building a philanthropic community and growing income tenfold; and before that, she held a senior fundraising position at the Royal Opera House working on the £100m ROH Development Appeal of the late 1990s and leading revenue fundraising in the “new House”.

Lara has a strong track record of raising multi-million pound philanthropic gifts personally, and through guiding and coaching others including senior leaders and trustees. Having directed fundraising across the full range of traditional techniques, she also has particular expertise in developing novel income generation models, for instance, applying investment industry principles to philanthropy. Lara is Chair of Ashford School Foundation and a trustee of Nurse Lifeline, a start-up health charity.


Fiona McWilliams

Fiona has over 20 years’ experience in fundraising and advancement in leading UK institutions, and before that, 15 years in international television media, including founding and running an acclaimed communications agency. Moving to the not-for-profit sector in 2002, Fiona worked in Special Projects at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and then SOAS, University of London for eight years. As Director of Development and External Relations, she led a multi-award-winning team across development and alumni relations, communications, marketing and student recruitment and personally led on a number of seven-figure gifts, including SOAS’ largest ever, at £20m.

Fiona was Executive Director of Development at the Natural History Museum for over seven years to 2022, transforming its fundraising income and profile with funders. She led on a number of successful campaigns, including the major fundraising and launch campaign for the new Hintze Hall and the £20m Urban Nature Project campaign, and contributed to Museum strategy as a member of the Executive Board. She currently has fundraising clients and trusteeships in heritage and conservation, education, science and the arts. She is a trustee of the Neville Abraham Foundation and a Fellow and Member of Council of the Linnean Society.
